Cooler Weather

I am not a fan of our mega muggy hot weather. I have Scottish blood in me & curly hair that frizzes the more humid it is.

As far as I'm concerned our cooler, no humidex value type day was beautiful. I could do with a whole summer like today! Thankful for relief from the heat & having the windows down in my car!

Best Greeting

My hubby got a job (very thankful for that), which means I've been taking my son to his babysitters. This is my first week dropping him off & picking him up. I have to say picking him up after work is the highlight of my day. Walking in the door, seeing his little smiling face & hearing him say "Mommy...I missed you", words really cannot describe how that makes me feel.

Thankful for that little moment when I feel so loved & needed! It really makes the stresses of the day disappear in an instant.

Near midnight Banking

I'm thankful that we made it to the bank machine just in time. This month has gone by so fast I almost forgot to make a deposit for our car payment.

I'm glad hubby was awake enough to come with me & that the wee man could stay soundly sleeping while we snuck out. Living within an ear shot of Nana & Papa definitely has it's benefits.

Here there & everywhere

I have travelled quite a lot this month, Toronto to Edmonton, Edmonton to Calgary & back, then home to Toronto from Edmonton. Slept in my own bed for 4 nights, then drove to Pennsylvania stayed for 4 nights with friends & now I am home sweet home.

I was away from my wee man for the 2 weeks I was out west, but I had him all to myself on our little trip to PA!

I wasn't sure if I was crazy attempting a nine hour road trip with a three year old all on my own, but it all went very well! I was amazed with how much he had changed in 2 weeks; he was a chatting machine on our long car ride. It's so strange & wonderful to have full conversations with him. It's great to hear him laugh at his own silly little jokes.

He has own ideas on things now which is very entertaining & at times challenging. We were in a store and he saw a display of balls, giant Disney balls to be exact. He picked out a Toy Story ball & then attempted to pick out a pink princess ball for me. He said "Mommy you need a ball too". They were kind of expensive and really in this house the last thing we needed was another ball. Well, he had a mini meltdown in the store because I told him we only needed to buy the one ball; with tears streaming down his face he expressed how sure he was I needed my own ball. It was very sweet & truth be told a little embarrassing, meltdowns in public are generally not fun experiences for a parent. I did appreciate his giving little heart though.

I'm thankful for my time away with my wee man. I enjoyed just being with him, just the two of us. I'm thankful for his sweet little spirit, he has a kind heart for a 3 year old & I hope he will carry that with him throughout his life.

He wanted to take the Chick-Fil-A cow home with us, he thought it was so funny.

The Return from Hiatus

I haven't been blogging the last couple of weeks due to being away on a business trip. I was working some long days & just feeling fried mentally; I just couldn't sit down & write. I was away from my son for 2 weeks, which is a first; in the past I've been away 2 or 3 nights at the most.

I really just wanted to separate myself from worrying about my little man while I was away. I knew he was in the best hands he could be apart from being with his Mommy. I missed him a lot, but felt peaceful & even enjoyed the project I was involved with for work.

There's so many things I'm thankful for that have come to light for me these past few weeks.

I'm thankful my first real business trip was a success on both the home & work front. I'm thankful my hubby started a new job & handled all that goes with that, along with me being away. I'm thankful my parents could, as they always do, help us out so much. I'm thankful for a week off work & being able to spend much of it one in one with my wee man. He's changing so much, so exciting to see.

There's so much more to say, my heart is truly grateful for all that's happened these past few weeks. More to come!!

Miles from Home

I had a busy weekend so I'm a little behind on my posts. This one will be short and sweet because I have an early morning. Coffee will be needed!

I'm in Edmonton for work for almost 2 weeks- which may not seem like a big deal, but having a child kinda changes all that. The good thing is I'm pretty busy while I'm here so there's not a lot of time to miss him...but of course I still do.

I'm thankful for all the people at home taking care of my wee man & my big man! (thanks Mom & Dad-couldn't do it without you) Thanks to my hubby too-I know you won't be bored while I'm gone. :)

My Crazy Little Life

First of all I'm very thankful that my hubby started his new job today! It's been a longtime coming, a definite answer to prayer.

Chris was restructured out of a good job almost 2 years ago, which was a big shock to our family. Along with the package he received he also went back to school and had the best job of all, stay at home Dad.

He's been ready for awhile to get back in the game & to give up the full-time Daddy daycare job! It's been a blessing for all of 3 of us to have him home this long, but I am happy for him to get back to work! His techie geek mind needs more than Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & jaunts to the park.

The crazy part comes because I'm heading 3500 km away for 2 weeks for my job. Which is exciting and slightly scary because I have never been away from my son for that long. Yikes!

I'm thankful that my hubby is cool with all of this! I'm glad he's up for the challenge of a very energetic 3 year old along with starting a new job.

I'm also very thankful that my parents are so close by & always willing to help us out. It's also crazy for them right now because they are just starting their busy season! Thankful they can still entertain a busy boy in the midst of their busyness!

I'm grateful that it has worked out for Liam's babysitter, a friend of mine, to take care of him a couple extra days a week.

My crazy little life just got a bit crazier, but it's all very exciting! I'm thankful for this new little adventure and all the doors that have been opened for us!

Flat Tire

Well I had a flat tire, I realized it when I went out to my car tonight after work. I was in a rush & really not happy about the whole situation. It took a bit to realize the positives in all this!

Here's what I'm thankful for...
-It didn't happen on the highway on my way home!
-My handy hubby was there in a jiffy to fix it
-I have a handy hubby who could come in a jiffy to fix it (thx Shannon for the reminder)
-My son got to have a mini nap on the ride to pick me up with hubby
-The tire ended up getting fixed at walmart tonight
-A new adventure begins tomorrow for our family & we are ready to go! (more or less)

I'm thankful for the trouble I didn't have tonight!

The Biggest Winner

Tonight was the finale of sorts of my weight loss challenge! I am the Biggest Winner, okay maybe in my own mind only, but that's good enough for me. My team didn't win either, but it was a great learning experience!

I officially lost 20lbs & altogether I lost 14 inches. This makes me happy! It's a great start for me & I am going to keep at...keep fighting the battle...I know I will get there.

I learned that really if I just get my butt moving I can accomplish quite a bit. I didn't always eat exactly what I should but I made some positive changes. Number one, I stopped drinking pop. I've had a few sips here and there; its amazing how incredibly sweet it is when you haven't had it for awhile.

I have also come to the conclusion that I like being active. Even though life is busy, if I really want it I can fit it in.

Another thing I've learned and maybe one of the most important is that I have many people around me that want me to succeed. So many friends and family have encouraged me with kind words. It's definitely a blessing to feel encouraged by others, especially on days when things aren't going as well as I'd like.

I'm thankful for a great beginning & so thankful I'm not alone on my journey!!

Mani, Pedi & a Movie

Thankful for a fun evening with my Mom. We got our toes in shape for the summer, hands looking good too & then we went to a movie.

The movie was just wrong on so many levels, "The Five Year Engagement". It was corny and the story was ridiculous, but we had a laugh.

Also thankful for my fabulous hubby who even after several long days with the most energetic kid I know, had him all tucked in and sleeping when I got home!
