MLK

Two of my favourite U2 songs are "MLK" & "Pride", both are about Martin Luther King Jr. Since today is MLK day I thought I would concentrate on that for my thankful inspiration today.

What I'm thankful for is a man who dared to dream in a time when it seemed impossible. He had faith that he could change people's hearts and minds. He stood for something knowing there could be consequences, knowing that people hated him for the very idea of what he was proposing. If this man didn't stand up so passionately, first of all challenging us to see people as people and not by the colour of their skin and later on as an advocate for the poor, I wonder what the state of the world be? That's not to say there weren't others, but he called people to challenge the status quo and his charisma was inspiring & still is today.

It's amazing what people can do when they come together and challenge the world to do the right thing, to dream the world can be a better place for all. Have faith that even in the little things we do day to day can change the world. I'm thankful for those that have sacrificed much for a better world, today that someone is Martin Luther King Jr.
